I carry a full patient load through twelve-hour shifts on a respiratory and general medicine floor, handling admissions and discharges and working shoulder to shoulder with the junior doctors on daily rounds. Six years on acute medical wards in Dublin teaching hospitals got me to this point. Busy wards with a proper team culture suit me best — and my documentation stays tight even when the floor is stretched.
